Summary:

Tutor Intelligence is a quickly-growing robotics startup on the edge of Boston, and we’re looking to make our first marketing hire: a Marketing Director who has both the strategic (big picture) and tactical (execution) skills to launch and own Tutor’s marketing effort as our internal marketing powerhouse.

The Job:

Tutor has some well-defined business goals that we’re gunning to meet, and we have some ideas about what marketing efforts are necessary to get us there. However, in some ways, marketing at Tutor is a blank slate, and we’re looking for somebody who finds that incredibly exciting. The right person for this job has 1) the breadth of knowledge to lay out a new era for Tutor and 2) the depth of execution skills to, fairly independently, make it happen.

You’ll be working closely with members of the Business Development team on all projects, but you’ll also be the only person at Tutor who’s time is fully dedicated to marketing, so we’re hoping you’re prepared to be a bit of a pioneer.

We think we’re looking for somebody who:

  • has the experience to hit the ground running here. You’ll be our first dedicated marketing hire, and we’re hoping you can start making step-change improvements right off the bat.

  • is an excellent strategist. We’re hoping you know how to look at the big picture and choose the right things to do – the right things to spend time and money on – to achieve the company’s goals.

  • has the tactical skills to fairly independently execute marketing campaigns and projects across mediums. Essentially, we hope you have the technical capabilities to be Tutor’s internal marketing powerhouse.

  • is an excellent decision maker and comfortable creating order in chaos. We’re hoping that you’re capable of seeking out information that you need, and, when it’s not available, making good and reasonable decisions based on what you do know.

  • is ready to teach us things. The best case scenario is that blow us out of the water with the perspective and skills you bring.

You’ll probably need the skills/experience to:

  • execute Tutor’s first Search Engine Optimization campaign

  • build and maintain a brand new website (in collaboration with our technical designer)

  • establish + operate all aspects of automated email marketing campaigns

  • produce documents for print and digital distribution

  • independently run photo + video shoots

  • manage/design event-based marketing opportunities

  • track and report campaign results

Working at Tutor means:

  • being surrounded by some of the smartest, most creative, hardest-working, and funniest people you’ll ever meet

  • the expectation that you’ll be a major contributor in everything that you do (yes, we really mean that)

  • gaining a 360º perspective on what a tech company looks like and values, from the inside

  • perpetual exposure to cutting edge robotics innovation for the real world

  • working quickly and ambitiously to do the best work we possibly can for our company, our customers, and our future customers

  • spending every day among a close-knit team of excited and ambitious people who are working hard to usher in a new era of robotics and robotic service

Details:

  • Work is predominantly in-person at our office on the edge of Boston, in Watertown, MA

    • Our team lives in Boston, Cambridge, and Somerville

  • Will require occasional travel to industry conventions / trade shows (a few times per year)

  • Benefits include fully paid health insurance and company-managed 401k
